While every effort is made to ensure that the data and statistics published in this report are accurate and up to date, we do not claim that the data is complete. In particular we draw attention to the following:
- ccTLD data is not centrally stored, and we have relied on the kind cooperation of colleagues from the ccTLD community, who share their data with us. Despite our best efforts, we are unable to gather data from every ccTLD in every year. The data is not independently verifiable, and is not complete.
- Through our cooperation with Verisign, we have access to information relating to IDNs operated in TLDs that they manage, including .com and .net. For other gTLDs we rely on ICANN’s Centralised Zone Data Service (CZDS) which is accessed through a web format. Applications are made once a year to every zone, not every application is approved in time for the research team’s crawl, and some approvals time out prior to the crawl being made. Therefore, we do not guarantee that all gTLD data has been captured in our analysis.
