IDNs by Script (Second Level)

Over half of second level domains are in Han script, an ongoing effect of the 400% growth in IDNs under .cn during 2016. Second level Latin script IDNs fell from 40% to 29% over the 2016-2017 period.

IDNs which are registered under ASCII TLDs, such as .com or .eu, are called second level IDNs. ┬áThere is a natural affinity between Latin script IDNs – which feature accents or diacriticals – and ASCII TLDs.
